JM COMMUNITIES

Monthly in person gatherings.

COMPANIONS

SHARING THE SPIRITUAL JOURNEY

JourneyMates Communities are local, monthly gatherings of approximately thirty people who covenant to “show up, pay attention, and tell the truth” of their lives. Together, they make space to slow down for three hours, opening their hearts to notice and join in God’s formational work.

  • Each month we share in time for our guided “offerings” of quiet contemplation, reflective teaching, praying the Scriptures through lectio divina, and spending time in silent solitude.

  • We then join together in covenantal listening groups of six to share and reflect on our life and relationship with God through contemplative, listening prayer and response

  • We hold silence and make space for God and one another.

  • Trained facilitators guide this process we call “small group spiritual companioning.”

JM Community registration begins in May, with our nine-month covenant journey beginning in September and continuing through the following May. Many participants and volunteers return year after year, so space is limited.

Is a JM Community is your next step? Consider attending a JM Morning Apart, listening to the JourneyMates Podcast, or meeting with a spiritual director to explore the invitation

Currently, JM Communities for women gather in Midtown Raleigh, North Raleigh, Western Wake County, and Durham/Chapel Hill. A coed JM Community meets in Central Raleigh. Our JM Community for men (JM2) meets in Raleigh and Wake Forest.

There are also JM Community Area Ministries in Atlanta, GA, Edenton, NC, Virginia Beach, VA, Greenwich, CT, and Omaha, NE.

JourneyMates ministry grows as the Good Shepherd leads us in offering locally accessible spiritual formation and soul care ministry.
